VOB function - Determine masses for piping and air ducts:

Do you want to determine masses for pipelines and air ducts – without performing calculations over and over again?

This feature helps you create VOB-compliant quantity takeoffs, which is not possible in the standard Autodesk Revit product. The routine monitors the Revit model during the design process. The VOB lengths as well as VOB areas are automatically calculated for newly created or modified components. This will give you correct masses in a central model. Tools are available that you can use for manual mass calculation.

VOB lengths:

For pipelines, the excess measurements for fittings and built-in parts are determined and added to the pipelines as length.

VOB areas:

For rectangular air ducts and air duct fittings, VOB-compliant areas are calculated and stored as parameters for the elements. The freely extendable mapping file can include own families in the VOB area calculation. The family itself does not require any adjustments in the process. The family content for rectangular air duct components supplied by Autodesk is already stored in the mapping.

Use the ‘Settings’ command to manage and activate the option to automatically calculate the VOB area and VOB length. If the calculations are enabled, VOB range and VOB length are calculated automatically when creating or modifying an element.

If a project has already been completed or the automatic calculation has been deactivated, the “Manual calculation” command can be used to subsequently calculate the VOB lengths of components.
